Should you take the trip? Or is this a bad idea?

It’s not always a clear yes.

Sometimes nothing is actually wrong. You've got a job, a life, friends and family. But something still feels off.

So you start thinking about going away. Not in a dramatic, sell-everything kind of way. Just… a break. A bit of a shift.

And then you talk yourself out of it.

Bad timing. Too indulgent. Running away. No one's available to travel with you. The world’s an epic shit show. Who would travel right now?

I felt like that last year, after experiencing a challenging year. Loss, illness, breakup. Life's crap trifecta.

Initially I talked my way out of travelling.

Then, I sat down and really thought about it. I asked myself a few questions and thought honestly about what I wanted.

And if you're uncertain about travelling right now, this way of thinking it through might help you too.

You don’t need to be 100% sure to go. You just need to be honest about why you want to.

Sometimes a trip is just a distraction. Sometimes it’s avoidance. But sometimes it’s the only way to get a bit of space and hear yourself think again. From the outside, those trips can look exactly the same. They’re not.

The question isn’t really “should I go?”

It’s “what am I hoping will change if I do?”

If the answer is something like “I just need a bit of space” or “I don’t feel like myself at the moment”, that’s usually worth paying attention to.

You might go and have no big epiphany. No dramatic moment where everything clicks. But something small shifts. You slow down. You breathe differently. You notice things again. And that’s often enough.

Maybe you’re sitting somewhere in between - not fully convinced, but not quite able to let the idea go? Or maybe you’re totally confused. That’s all normal too.

I put together something simple to help you figure it out.

Not a checklist. Not a pros and cons list.

Just a clearer way to think it through.

You don't need certainty.

Just a bit of honesty.
