Travel Feels Trivial Right Now

My timing is impeccable as usual.

I’ve started writing about my passion – travel – at a time when travel is harder than ever.

Flights are getting cut. Petrol prices are skyrocketing.

And even if you can travel, it suddenly feels… bloody complicated.

Given the state of the world and the heinous effects of wars on families - on children - writing about travel and pining for a holiday seems, well, almost trivial to me.

Perhaps that’s why I’ve struggled to put pen to paper. (Or to clickity clack the keyboard into words)

But when I think about travel and what it represents.

A curiosity about the world, and an appreciation of different cultures.

A way to gain context and clarity after challenges in life.

A prompt to stop and rest.

A small way to bring something lighter into heavy times.

And maybe that doesn’t have to disappear just because the world feels shitty.

We don't need to write travel off completely, just because everything feels heavy right now.

Travel might not fix anything.

But it does shift something. And right now, that feels like enough.
